A small post today to celebrate three things:
- This morning I managed to send an image (above) to myself — from one handheld radio to another! This is pretty basic stuff as far as amateur radio, but I don’t exactly have a great computer interface for it, so how I accomplished it was by encoding an image (a recent goth club selfie) , then playing the audio from my phone through a Baofeng VHF radio. Across my apartment, another radio was listening on the same frequency and my laptop was recording the audio that came out. Then I trimmed and decoded that audio and was able to get the above image. 😅 Anyway it was exciting for me. In about a week the ISS will be broadcasting this type of encoded image down at Earth and I really want to try to “catch” one . 🤞🏻
- Had a really fun motorcycle ride from my home in Santa Fe, up through Los Alamos and the Valles Caldera, then down through Jemez to Rio Rancho and then home. 🏍️
- Had a great improv set on stage tonight with my team After School Special. I think personally my play was really good and the team as a whole is on an upswing after some humdrum performances the last few weeks.
