My Meshcore repeater has been operating on its own on Tetilla Peak since February 15. Zero issues. But, new firmware has been released since then and having not laid eyes on the radio or enclosure for nearly 6 months, I thought it was time for a hike. My local area is transitioning heavily to multi-byte ids and TETILLA was running v1.12 firmware on its Heltec V4, so it was slowly being made useless as multi-byte support came with v1.14.

Anyway, the point was to have a little hiking adventure to the summit of Tetilla to check on the repeater, the solar panel, water ingress, etc - and of course update the firmware. It is a cool peak as you can see all of Santa Fe and essentially all the way to Albuquerque. It is also quite remote, there isn’t really a trail to the top, and it is rarely visited by people as far as I can tell.

Mission was a success. Approached from the NE side of the hill this time. Saw an old abandoned UHF(?) tower with solar panel and a yagi. Looks like it was maybe connected to a pumphead or some other underground thing. Managed not to trip into a cactus patch or get sunburned.

Firmware update went super smoothly - perhaps it wasn’t necessary but I hiked my laptop up there and used it to do the update vs relying on one of the OTA methods. Even brought a spare Heltec in case something looked off with this one or I managed to brick it, but ultimately it wasn’t needed. A fun day!
